August 3rd: A ride on a "floatplane"

Today is the last day my mom and aunt will be here in Alaska. When we got to Anchorage, I checked with one of the local airplane companies, and I was able to get a short ride for us on what they call a "float plane".

A floatplane is a very small airplane. It could barely fit the four of us, and I'm kind of big, so I had a hard time squeezing into my seat. Besides being small, instead of wheels on the bottom, a floatplane has pontoons, so it can take off and land on water.

We took off from a lake in Anchorage, then landed on a lake somewhere else. (I don't know where, I was lost.) Then we took off again, and then landed back on the same lake in Anchorage that we started from.

Along the way we got to see many incredible sights, including these glaciers and mountains:

I'm sad that my mom and aunt are leaving, but I'm also excited to get back and see Squirrel, and show him some of these pictures!
